Goalie Equipment

Becoming a goalie can be a bit daunting - especially the equipment expense. However ill-fitting equipment doesn't really make you a better player.   As an association it is hard to buy gear that fits everyone, therefore,

We subsidize your hockey Equipment costs, so you can buy gear that's JUST FOR YOU.

Every goalie at the Squirt/10U level and up, once rostered on a WYHA travel team and playing goalie full-time, for the first time in their hockey career,  will receive a one-time credit of $1,200 off their team assessment to support your equipment costs.  This amount is close to covering the WYHA costs of playing for an entire season of hockey!  The credit is to encourage kids at all levels to try the position, as well as recognize the increased cost of equipment for someone moving to play the net.  Consider it a way to compensate for the extra cost of buying your own equipment that fits as you enter Travel Hockey.

Please note, WYHA doesn't supply equipment to travel level goalies.  If you do not check in your equipment from your last season of Mites,  you will not qualify for this credit.

Association Gear for Goalies

Gear for Advanced Mites/8U goalies

Coaches of all teams are given a full set of goalie gear to be shared throughout the team for players that are interested in trying the goalie position.

In addition, any Advanced Mite/8U player may check out gear if you are interested in working on goalie training regularly at team practices.

Gear for Older dedicated Goalies

For those in Squirts/10U and beyond who have committed to the goalie position, you may still need help getting gear.  To help off set this cost we provide a one time credit (see above) to all first time travel level goalies that commit full time to playing the net.  Additionally, please see the sites at the bottom of this page for sources of quality used gear that can further reduce your equipment costs.

Getting gear on time

Getting the right gear can take time, not to mention coordination of calendars to find a time to meet at PIC. Please reach out well in advance of your need to make sure you get fit properly and play your best.  We recommend you contact us at least 1 to 2 weeks in advance of your need and expect to spend up to 1 hour to fit your player.

To obtain individual goalie gear contact someone on the Equipment team - names and contact info is on the right side of this webpage, and be flexible with your available time to meet with a coordinator at PIC Rink A.  Additionally, make sure your player comes to the agreed time to ensure a good fitting.
