Locker Room Moms and Monitors are Critical

Message from Minnesota Hockey President, Steven Oleheiser:

I feel I must reach out concerning locker rooms and locker room monitors. I ask all to reach out to your associations and impress upon them that locker rooms MUST be monitored. USAH Safesport requires this. We have already had some VERY serious incidents in locker rooms that likely may have been avoided had locker rooms involved been monitored.

One incident this last few days is requiring a report to both local law enforcement, center for Safesport and the immediate suspension of several players. Another also has involved the local law enforcement that are investigating possible assault charges. There also is the possibility of a lawsuit in this incident. Associations must be made aware of possible incidents and their possible liability should it be found that the locker room was no monitored. There also have been several (way too many) instances of reported racial slurs.

Associations and members need to be aware this can not happen. These incidents have occurred all over the state. This issue IS NOT just a metro or large association issue. It can and likely will happen in any association. We MUST do our part to ensure it does not and also protect all players. Thank you for your attention to this and please reach out to ALL associations and make sure they understand the seriousness of this!!
