WYHA SafeSport Policies

WYHA is committed to creating a safe and positive environment for its participant’s physical, emotional, and social development and to ensure that it promotes an environment free from abuse and misconduct.  As part of this commitment WYHA will be following the recommendations and guidelines defined in the USA Hockey Safesport Program Handbook.   Any questions or concerns should be directed to WYHA’s Safesport coordinator.

WYHA Safesport Policies are designed to address the following types of abuse and misconduct:
·         Sexual Abuse
·         Physical Abuse
·         Emotional Abuse
·         Bullying, Threats and Harassment
·         Hazing

Refer to the USA Hockey Safesport Program Handbook for complete definitions of these abuses and misconducts.

To reduce the risks of potential abuse and misconduct WYHA has implemented the following policies:
·         Locker Room Policy
·         Social Media, Mobile and Electronic Communications Policy
·         Travel Policy

In the event that any WYHA member observes any of the above described abuses and or misconducts it is the member’s personal responsibility to immediately report their observations to the WYHA’s Safesport coordinator.  In addition the member must also consider reporting suspected child physical or sexual abuse to appropriate law enforcement authorities.  To report any actual or suspected violations, you may email USA Hockey at SafeSport@usahockey.org or may call 1-800-888-4656.  WYHA has a ZERO TOLERANCE for abuse and misconduct.
