SafeSport & Background Checks

WYHA is committed to creating a safe and positive environment for its participant’s physical, emotional, and social development and to ensure that it promotes an environment free from abuse and misconduct. As part of this commitment WYHA will be following the recommendations and guidelines defined in the USA Hockey SafeSport Program Handbook.  Any questions or concerns should be directed to WYHA’s SafeSport Coordinator at safesport@wayzatahockey.org.

The following links are used for those interested in roles such a Coaching or Team Manager, and other roles. It is strongly recommended to get a head start on these requirements early in the season or pre-season to ensure you are compliant. Lack of compliance will result in being unable to do the role (ex. a Coach will not be allowed on the ice).

In the event that any WYHA member observes any SafeSport abuses and/or misconducts it is the member’s personal responsibility to immediately report their observations to the WYHA’s SafeSport Coordinator.

In addition the member must also consider reporting suspected child physical or sexual abuse to appropriate law enforcement authorities.

WYHA has ZERO TOLERANCE for abuse and misconduct.

Please note, the WYHA Registrar cannot resolve any SafeSport or Background Screening concerns.
