Goalie Assessment Credit for Travel Goalies

In an effort to support Travel goalies with the cost of entry into the position from an equipment and training perspective, WYHA offers $1200 assessment credit for first year full-time Travel goalies.

Beyond the initial assessment credit, all continuing Travel goalies that are registered and rostered as full-time goalies for their Travel team will receive an assessment credit stipend that equals their registration fee for their level.

GOALIE SKILLS SESSIONS

Each season, WYHA offers goalie skills sessions on select Mondays throughout the season at WCMS Arena.

If a session conflicts with your team practice, please note that coaches will allow goalies to attend these sessions to hone their position-specific skills. There are goalie skills sessions almost every night that Travel skaters have skills sessions at PIC. Goalies should plan to attend the goalie skills sessions at Central in lieu of their team's skater skills sessions on those Monday nights.

If you have a coach or a Bantam / U15 level teammate friend that would like to be your “shooter”, please feel free to bring them to a session.

Goalies will see a "Goalie Skills Session" on their Crossbar account for their respective level. This will serve as the schedule for the session.

DISCOUNTED GOALIE TRAINING OFFER

In continuance of our longstanding relationship with Stauber's Goalcrease, we are happy to announce that all WYHA full time Travel goalies have the opportunity to purchase 5 training sessions at Stauber's Goalcrease in Edina for a total cost of $230. This is a savings of $520 over regular pricing!

Additionally, as a WYHA full time Travel goalie, you can purchase additional sessions at a discounted rate of $130 each (these are normally $165 per session for non-WYHA travel goalies).

Make sure you are registered for the upcoming season as a full time goaltender
Then, print out and fill out the PDF below
Follow directions for where to send the form and payment - you should send them directly to Stauber's Goalcrease
Call Stauber's Goalcrease to schedule sessions starting now!

You will be able to use your selected password and sign up for sessions on-line when your registration is complete. Keep in mind that these 5 sessions must be used by the end of April.

*For complete clarity, goalies NOT eligible for subsidized sessions are Mites (boys and girls), Wayzata High School team goalies and goalies playing for another school/association.

GOALIE EQUIPMENT

Gear for Advanced Mites/8U goalies

Coaches of all teams are given a full set of goalie gear to be shared throughout the team for players that are interested in trying the goalie position.
In addition, any Advanced Mite/8U player may check out gear if you are interested in working on goalie training regularly at team practices.

Gear for Older dedicated Goalies

For those in Squirts/10U and beyond who have committed to the goalie position, you may still need help getting gear. To help offset this cost we provide a one-time credit (see above) to all first time Travel level goalies that commit full time to playing the net. Additionally, please see the sites referenced on this page for sources of quality used gear that can further reduce your equipment costs.

Getting gear on time

Getting the right gear can take time, not to mention coordination of calendars to find a time to meet at PIC. Please reach out well in advance of your need to make sure you get fit properly and play your best.
We recommend you contact us at goalies@wayzatahockey.org at least 1 to 2 weeks in advance of your need and expect to spend up to 1 hour to fit your player. Additionally, make sure your player comes to the agreed time to ensure a good fitting.

Goalcrease has a great selection of used and new equipment for sale for all age goalies. The have a great staff that can help you get the right size gear and ensure a proper fit.

Sidelineswap.com is an online exchange for buying and selling used equipment for all sports. They have a great Hockey Goalie section. If you know what you need they just might have have it!
