Plymouth Mayor Jeff Wosje Attends September WYHA Board Meeting

Play It Forward Plymouth is currently in an advanced planning stage, supported in part by a $5 million State bonding grant.

What is the status of funding for Play It Forward Plymouth?
The City of Plymouth plans to again seek approval during the 2027 Minnesota legislative session to authorize a ½% local option sales tax to help fund Play It Forward Plymouth. If approved by the Legislature and Plymouth voters, construction could begin.

Is there bridge funding that would allow the project to begin immediately?
According to Mayor Wosje, the City is currently focused on securing approval for the local option sales tax during the 2027 legislative session rather than pursuing separate bridge funding.

Why not enclose the proposed refrigerated covered ice rink at the former Four Seasons Mall site near Highway 169 and County Road 9?
Mayor Wosje explained that the proposed refrigerated covered rink is intended to meet the in-season ice needs of Plymouth's eastside residents with less investment than a year-round enclosed facility. The covered-rink option would also allow the facility to be used for other purposes during the hockey offseason.
